Barks’s Berry Breakfast Smoothie

I have this most mornings as it’s got everything in it that I need before weights or field sessions. Slow and quick release carbs, protein and antioxidants and it’s ready in five minutes. Perfect for when you want an extra few winks!

1 banana
Large handful of berries (preferably blueberries but any will do)
Large handful of oats
300ml of skimmed/semi skimmed milk
3 large desert spoons of your favourite yoghurt

Optional

Small handful of mixed nuts
200g of cottage cheese (sounds bad I know but it gives a lovely creamy texture and is a great source of protein)

Method

Put it all in the blender and let it rip! It’s really as simple as that. I’ll usually put it all in the blender the night before and store it in the fridge to save time in the morning and if there’s any leftover I’ll pop it back in the fridge. It’s perfect for after training or when you get back from school. Just wiz it up again and you’re good to go. You can change it up as well by adding different fruit and yoghurt.
